Happiness, Productivity, and Events: The Perfect Trio

The relationship between happiness and productivity in the workplace is irrefutable. Some studies point to a 31% increase in productivity when it comes to a happy employee.

There are obviously several strategies to promote the happiness of our employees. Today, we will explore one of the most effective ones: organizing events.

To do so, we will delve into internal and external events.

INTERNAL EVENTS ADVANTAGES OF INTERNAL EVENTS Endomarketing strategies (or internal marketing, that is, marketing aimed at internal actions that aim to improve the company’s image among employees) have been increasingly used by companies and organizations to strengthen and reinforce bonds between colleagues and hierarchies.

The reasons are multiple. We highlight here some:

Organizing internal events promotes team spirit, unity/cohesion among colleagues, and individual and group motivation.

It helps relieve the pressure of professional day-to-day life.

It develops soft skills, namely communication skills.

It demonstrates management’s interest in employees, as a way of thanking them for their efforts.

EXAMPLES OF INTERNAL EVENTS There are several typologies of internal events, from the most formal to the most convivial.

A presentation of results or the definition of company objectives can very well be a strong argument for holding an internal event, associated with presentation techniques, brainstorming, or creative thinking.

The implementation of a training course, workshop, or lecture is also an example of an internal event to be considered.

Themes related to personal development are always a good option.

Obviously, all types of socialization are welcome: from the Christmas dinner, through the company’s anniversary, culminating in the award ceremony, these events are extremely valuable for strengthening bonds and team spirit.

Within these, we can also include the so-called Team Buildings with group dynamics that foster mutual help. The possibility of associating movement activities such as team sports, occupational gymnastics, yoga or meditation sessions are excellent catalysts for physical and mental well-being.

EXTERNAL EVENTS External events are different from internal events in that the focus is no longer on endomarketing, but on actions that contribute to attracting prospects and/or employees.

They also favor the reinforcement of bonds between employees, often encouraging healthy competition for better results.

When preparing for an external event, the employee not only wears the company’s colors (figuratively and often literally as well), but also represents the company, its mission, and its values. This reinforces their sense of belonging and their sense of responsibility towards their company or brand.

CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, just as the proportion between an employee’s level of happiness and their productivity is certain, it is also undeniable that the participation of employees in events, whether internal or external, is directly related to that level of happiness.

Given the importance of this issue and even the specificity of some events, we consider it important to resort to specialized companies. Companies that, with their experience and external vision, can give the best contribution and present the best solution.
